Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Anyone who knows me knows my love of coffee. In fact, I love it so much. I have a vanity license plate on my car professing my love of coffee (I♥︎CAWFY). Needless to say, I’ve seen more than one person in line behind me at my local Starbucks drive-thru chuckling at it. I’ve even caught a couple of people snapping photos of it with their phone. LOL

Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop BannerDue to my love of coffee, I couldn’t wait to participate in the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop being hosted over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog. I’m also a member of the Coffee Loving Papercrafters group on Facebook, so we’ve all be eagerly awaiting this blog hop and it’s finally here.

Mel's Card Corner | Coffee Makes Every Day BetterFor my card, I started with a white panel cut from Stamper’s Select cardstock from Papertrey Ink. I used the Coffee Stains stamp set from Prima to create my own background. I used my Mini Distress Ink pad in Tea Dye and some second and third generation stamping to create the background. I then stamped the mug image from the Mini Blueprints Fresh Brewed stamp set by Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous using some Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Tim Holtz Fresh Brewed Coffee Mug Close-UpI colored the mug using some of my red Copic markers. I used R27, R37, and R59 for the mug and some C-2, C-0, and 0 for the steam and shadow. Once I had it all colored, I added some Glossy Accents over the top area beverage area to give it the appearance of an actual liquid. I then covered the mug with a generous layer of clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen. It looks more glittery in the photo above than it does in person due to how the light hit it as I photographed it.

Coffee Die Cut Close-UpThe next element I added was this coffee die cut. It was part of a larger phrase piece, but I just used the word coffee from it. For those using a Silhouette Cameo or Portrait, you can find this design in the Silhouette Design Store. For those using a Cricut Explore or other cutting machine that can handle SVG files, you can find the design in the Lori Whitlock shop.

I cut the word out three times using my Cricut Explore using some plain white cardstock. I adhered all three of them together to create a more dimensional version. I then colored the top and edges using an E29 Copic marker because I thought it looked like a really nice coffee color brown. I finished it off by adding a layer of clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen for some sparkle. I adhered to the card panel using some Multi Medium Matte.

Jessie's ABCs by Lawn FawnSince I didn’t have a sentiment stamp for what I wanted to say, I created my own. I used the Jessie’s ABCs alphabet stamp set from Lawn Fawn for this part. I absolutely love how Lawn Fawn creates their alphabet stamp sets on rectangle bases that are all the same height. It makes it super easy to get all the letters lined up perfectly. I stamped my sentiment using more of the Memento Tuxedo Blank ink. In retrospect, I wish I had thought to use my Memento Rich Cocoa instead because I think it would have worked better than the brown of the coffee die cut. It still looks OK though since it makes the ink I used for stamping the mug.

Mel's Card Corner | Coffee Makes Every Day BetterTo finish off the card, I adhered the panel to my card base which was made from a piece of Dark Chocolate cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. Since the card base was so dark, I added a white panel inside the card for writing. For a bit of final detail, I added a few sequins for a little bit of bling and that was my finished card for the blog hop.
