I’ve always been a huge fan of non-traditional colors for Christmas. Even when I actually do use red and green, I tend to use darker shades like deep burgundy and hunter green. As you may remember, I even did a whole series of holiday cards recently using non-traditional colors. Today, I’m going to be sharing another.
This time it’s all about the pink. One of the nice things about using pink is that it still gives a bit of a nod to the traditional red one expects for Christmas. Yet, it still goes in a non-traditional route.
For this card, I started with a top-folding A2 card base made from some pink cardstock from Bazzill. Next, I cut white panels for the front and inside of my card using white Stamper’s Select cardstock from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment I used is from the new Toboggan Together stamp set from Lawn Fawn. The ornaments and bows are from the Joy to the Woods stamp set, also from Lawn Fawn.
For the stamping, I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink and my MISTI stamping tool because it made it much easier to get all the little individual ornament stamps lined up straight. They look a bit off in the photo, but I think it’s just due to the angle at which I took the photo. It all looks nice and straight in person.
Once stamped, I colored the ornaments using my RV11, RV13, and RV14 Copic markers. I used a gold metallic Signo gel pen to color the ornament topper and then covered the entire ornament with a bit of clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.
To accent the gold of the ornament toppers, I added some gold foil tape from Close to My Heart along the right edge of the card base. I also added a piece along the bottom of the white panel inside the card to help tie everything together.
To finish up the card, I cut a piece of white 2mm craft foam slightly smaller than the size of my front panel. I added some 1″ Scor-Tape on both sides of the foam. I removed the backing from one side and adhered the foam to my white panel. I then removed the backing from the other side and adhered the white panel to my card base to finish it up.
I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
