My plan, as of a few days ago, was to skip doing any major shopping for crafty supplies on Black Friday. HA! The only thing that was really tempting me initially was one of the flat-rate mystery boxes that Simon Says Stamp said they were going to be offering. Sadly, like many well-laid plans, things didn’t exactly go as anticipated. Even more ironic is the one thing that really interested me (the SSS mystery box) sold out so quickly that I missed out on it completely. Never fear, fellow crafters, I more than made up for it. LOL
Before I lay out the Black Friday goodies I purchased, I do want to give a plug to a couple of fellow crafters who have compiled awesome lists on the websites of all the sales and promotions. I thought about including a list in this post, but figured there was no need to reinvent the proverbial wheel. If you want to see who is offering what deals, check out these posts:

Now, on to the Black Friday damage I made …
Simon Says Stamp – 15% off entire purchase
I’ve had a few Clearly Besotted sets on my wish list for a while. I took advantage of the Simon sale to pick them up. Here are the sets I got: (from L to R): A Little Sentimental, Beautiful Friend, and Miniature Florals. You can click on each image for a larger view.
Altenew – 20% off all inks and dies
This one was a complete no-brainer for me once I learned about their sale. I’ve been wanting to pick up the Altenew inks for a while now, so I grabbed all six of the mini ink cube collections which gives me their entire 24 ink collection. Since I have several layering stamp sets, these will be awesome to have in my collection!
Lawn Fawn – free stamp with $35 purchase/die with $60 purchase
For anyone who has been reading my blog or following me on social media for very long, you know how much I adore Lawn Fawn products. Without doubt, they are my absolute favorite stamp company. So, when I saw they were going to be offering a free exclusive mini stamp set for Black Friday, I was all over that, too! LOL
Isn’t it adorable?! I think the “Stinkin’ Cute” title for this set suits it perfectly. The biggest problem for me was coming up with $35 worth of stuff that I didn’t already own in order to qualify for it. LOL Here’s what I ended up getting:
Evernote – Buy a one year upgrade plan & get six months free
Ok, so this one may not seem directly crafting related, but it really is, I promise! I use Evernote to keep an inventory all of my stamps, dies, inks, papers, embellishments, etc. I enter everything on the desktop app on my Mac (they have one for Windows, too) to take advantage of having an actual keyboard, but the cool part is I can also access all my content from any web browser once I log in to the Evernote website. They even have free mobile apps, too! That means when I’m at my local stamp store or shopping online and see something I really like, I can check my inventory to make sure I don’t already own it. Be honest now, I’m sure I’m not the ONLY person out there who has bought something only to get home and realize you already owned it, right?! Keeping track of everything in Evernote prevents that from happening.
The other cool thing is you can add tags to all of your items as you enter them into the application which makes for much easier searching in the future. For example, I can add the word “heart” as a tag on any stamp sets I own that include a heart stamp in the set. Then, when I’m creating a card and know I want to include a stamped heart on the card, I can search for “heart” in Evernote and it will bring up all my stamp sets with the heart tag. You can also add a photo with each entry, so I can see not only which sets have a heart stamp, but exactly what that heart looks like so I can pick the perfect one.
There is a free account option on Evernote as well if you aren’t sure you want to buy it. The free account limits you to being able to upload only 60mb of data transfer per month which really isn’t very much once you start adding photos of all your stamps. The Plus account (what I have) allows you to upload 1gb (1000mb) of data transfer per month. The price for the Plus plan is $24.99 per year, but that would be $24.99 for 18 months right now thanks to their Cyber Week deal which ends on Monday, November 30. If you have a LOT of stuff you want to track, they also have a Premium plan for $49.99 per year which includes 10gb of data transfer per month.
Not only do I use it for my papercrafting supplies, I use it to track my knitting/crocheting supplies as well. It works great for anything you might want to inventory. They even have a web clipper browser extension which makes it really easy to save things directly from the web. I use this all the time for tracking recipes I want to try. I truly can’t save enough good things about using Evernote and would encourage you to check it out.
