A new challenge started today over at StampNation. The theme for this challenge is creating a card using a 1-2-3 formula. In this case, the formula is one sentiment, two layers, and three words. Here’s the card I created:
I started by masking off my main panel leaving a large circle opening for my sun. I then sponged on my color using Stampin’ Up!® inks in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. I added a tiny bit of Rich Razzleberry at the very bottom of the sun to give a more intense sunset color. I added the color very lightly and just did a lot of layers to build the colors up. I then removed the mask and set the panel aside to dry. You could speed up the process by using a heat tool to dry the ink, but I decided to just let mine dry naturally.
When my ink sponging was dry, I stamped on the tree and sentiment using Early Espresso ink. To “ground” the tree image, I added a bit of Old Olive ink using a blender pen. Next, I used the blender pen and some Soft Suede ink to color the trunk of the tree. I also added a light layer of the Soft Suede over the Old Olive on the left side of the tree to create a bit of a cast shadow.
To finish the card, I created an A2 top-folding card base using Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I adhered the tree panel to the card base using foam tape.
In addition to the StampNation challenge, I will also be entering this card in the following challenges:
- The Paper Players – the current theme is rain or shine.
- Little Red Wagon – the current theme is masculine cards.
Until next time …
