Blooming Birthday

I didn’t have a chance to create a homework card for day three of the Clear & Sheer class at Online Card Classes last night because I ended up working quite late. Instead. I’m going to share a card today that I made a few days ago that was actually inspired by a Mother’s Day card created by Cathy for the TGIF Challenge #52. I loved the diagonal feature she created on her card as well as the beautiful floral images, so I decided to CASE her card.

Mel's Card Corner | Blooming Birthday

This card was actually very quick and easy to make. I started with an A2 top-folding card base of Sahara Sand then used the Botanical Builder Framelits from Stampin’ Up!® to create the diagonal leaf edge detail. I adhered a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock on the inside front of the card to replace the section that was cut away. I stamped a sentiment from the Flower Patch stamp set in the lower right-hand corner using Night of Navy ink.

For the floral element, rather than stamping flowers like Cathy did, I die cut some of the flowers from the Botanical Builders Framelits using Calypso Coral cardstock. I also cut some of the stamen pieces from Night of Navy cardstock. To fill in some of the gaps, I punched a couple of additional flowers using the small flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack (retiring).

To give the flowers a bit of texture and dimension, I sponged around the edges with the coordinating Calypso Coral ink then curled the leaves with a bone folder. I adhered the flowers to the card using some glue dots then finished off the card by adding some rhinestones to all the flower centers.

All of the individual products I used on this card are carrying over to the new catalog. However, the Botanical Blooms and Flower Patch bundles will be retiring. So, if you are interested in both coordinating stamps and dies for either of these, you should grab them before the current catalog ends of May 31 to save yourself some money.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:

Until next time …
