We had another day of lesson videos yesterday for the Clear & Sheer class at Online Card Classes. I’m in awe of a couple of the techniques I saw demonstrated in the videos! I didn’t have time to try some of the more complicated techniques since I do my homework when I get home from work in the evenings. I definitely want to give them a try one weekend when I have more time to play! Until then, I decided to try the technique of using vellum with patterned paper which was taught by Debby Hughes.
Here’s the card I created for my day two homework.
I started by creating my banner element using a floral piece of designer series paper from Stampin’ Up!® I then layered it on a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock using some tape runner. I adhered the banner to an A2 top-folding card base using Dimensionals then rounded the bottom corners.
I stamped the sentiment (from the retiring A Whole Lot of Lovely set) on a piece of vellum using VersaMark ink then heat embossed it using rose gold embossing powder. I adhered it to the card using some liquid glue which I dotted behind the sentiment to keep it from showing. Next, I added a small flower that I punched out from a scrap piece of Calypso Coral cardstock. I sponged around the edges using the coordinating ink then shaped the petals a bit using my fingernail. I adhered it to the card with a glue dot. I finished it off by adding a pearl in the center.
I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
- Sketch Saturday
- Just Add Ink – the current theme is a photo inspiration challenge. My card uses the colors from the photo.
Until next time …
