I know a lot of my friends in the eastern part of the US have been hit with a spring snowstorm, but the weather has been lovely out here in California. In fact, it’s even been pretty warm the past few days with temperatures in the mid-80s and everything is in bloom which inspired today’s card.
For this card, I used the two-step floral images from the Number of Years stamp set from Stampin’ Up!®. I stamped the flowers on a piece of watercolor cardstock then used my clear Wink of Stella pen to go over everything to give it some shimmer and to create the watercolor look. I used Old Olive for the stems and to create the ground. I used Rose Red, Daffodil Delight, and Wisteria Wonder for the flowers. I added centers to the Wisteria Wonder flowers using a Daffodil Delight marker.
I trimmed down my floral piece and matted it on a piece of Old Olive cardstock. I stamped the banner image, also from the Number of Years set, in Old Olive on some white cardstock. I used the Hello and Spring stamps from the Crazy About You set to add my sentiment inside the banner. Since I don’t have the coordinating die set yet (it was on backorder until last week), I fussy cut it out to added to my card.
To finish the card, I wrapped some miscellaneous red and white baker’s twine from my stash around the top of the card. I also rounded the two lower corners using the 1/2″ side of my Corner Chomper.
I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
- StampNation – the current theme is hint of Spring.
- CAS on Sunday – the current theme is flowers.
- CASology – the current theme is sprout.
For any of you out there who are fans of the Weekly Deals at Stampin’ Up, you may have noticed on the updated today they’ll be going away in a couple of weeks. This means we’re down to the final couple of weeks for taking advantage of the Weekly Deals. Because of that fact, there are a LOT more items up for grabs than the typical five we’ve beens seeing each week, so this is a great time to grab up some of these deals before they’re gone on April 18!
Speaking of April 18, that’s the day Stampin’ Up will be releasing the retirement list for this year. It will include all of the items from the 2015-2016 annual catalog and the current occasions catalog that will be retiring on May 31. So, if you want more of the 2014-2016 In Color products (including the gorgeous Blackberry Bliss color), you probably want to place your order sooner rather than later because things tends to sell out VERY quickly once the retirement list is out.
Until next time …
