Unused Stamps Part Two

For today’s card, I decided to extend the challenge I was given yesterday by Ingrid and use another stamp from my collection I’ve never used. Since the 2014-2016 In Colors from Stampin’ Up!® will be retiring in just a few weeks when the new catalog is released, I decided to use those for my design as well before they’re gone for good. Here’s the card I created.

Mel's Card Corner | Hardwood Thank You

The stamp set I hadn’t used before was this background stamp called Hardwood. I can’t believe I haven’t used it before now because it’s awesome! I started by creating an A2 top-folding card base using Hello Honey cardstock. Using my MISTI, I then stamped the Hardwood image using Hello Honey ink because I wanted a monochromatic background. I added a layer using some of the 2014-2016 In Color Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Whisper White cardstock. I added a snippet of a tea lace paper doily as an accent in keeping with the sketch.

Mel's Card Corner | Hardwood Thank You #GDP030

For the sentiment, I stamped one of the thank you images from the One Big Meaning stamp set on Whisper White cardstock using Mossy Meadow, another 2014-2016 In Color. I cut it out using the 2″ circle punch then layered it on a piece Mossy Meadow DSP cut using the 2-3/8″ scalloped circle punch. To give it a little sparkle, I traced over the letters using my clear Wink of Stella pen then finished it off with a scattering of rhinestones.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:

Until next time …

This is beautifully done Melissa… although your ‘white space’ does have a little decoration… even if it is just woodgrain!
I do love your card though!
    Thanks so much

Thanks, Chrissie. I used matching ink & cardstock which kept it monochromatic, so I tend to still think of that as a single tone even though it’s decorated. If that doesn’t qualify for the challenge though, I understand and will keep that in mind for future challenge entries.

It’s great to see you using things that have been sitting in your stash and discovering that you like them, lol! The Hardwood stamp is fabulous and a favourite of mine. Great take on this weeks sketch. Thanks for playing at Global Design Project!
