The daughter of a friend of mine will be celebrating her first birthday this week. Naturally, that calls for a card! Since she seems to love animals already, I decided a critter card would be perfect.
I started the card by doing a bit of masking and stamping three of the critters and a couple of accessories from the Baby Party Animals stamp set by Simon Says Stamp using their Intense Black ink. I colored all of the images using various Copic markers. The sentiment and large one image are from the Number of Years stamp set by Stampin’ Up. I stamped the sentiment using the same Intense Black ink and stamped the large one using Melon Mambo ink from Stampin’ Up which coordinates with the cardstock I used for the card base.
Next, I used the coordinating Large Numbers Framelits to cut out the large one using my Big Shot. To give the die cut one a bit of pop, I added a lot of random flicking motion using the BG0000 Copic marker to created a soft field of color then adhered the die cut using some Dimensionals. Since I wanted the card to have a bit of sparkle, I added a layer of clear Wink of Stella to the balloon, present, and the large one then added a coat of Glossy Accents over the balloon and present.
To decorate the inside of the card, I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Numbers of years stamp set. Once again, I stamped it using the Intense Black ink from SSS. I also added the small balloon image from the Baby Party Animals set as an accent in the corner. I stamped it using Smoky Slate ink from Stampin’ Up then added a layer of clear Wink of Stella to it as well.
I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – the current theme is masking.
- StampNation Challenge – the current theme is congratulate and celebrate. (membership required)
Until next time …
