I headed over to my local stamp store (Stamp Fever) yesterday to take a class. It was a Copic coloring class featuring mermaids taught by Amanda. If you enjoy seeing lots of really cool Copic coloring photos, you should definitely follow her on Instagram! Her username is @coloringinprogress. While you’re over there, feel free to follow me as well. You can find me there as @melscardcorner.
The other mermaid we colored was from the Mermaid Friends stamp set from Stampendous. Amanda walked us through how to map out our shadowing for both the hair and the skin then gave us a quick overview of how she colored the tail. I think the tail is my favorite part!
Now that you’ve seen all of Amanda’s beautiful images, here’s a peek at how mine turned out. I definitely need to work more on my hair coloring skills, but overall, I think mine turned out really well. I definitely want to work on deepening my shadows more, too. Since I keep my shadowing a lot more subtle, I don’t have nearly as much depth in my images as Amanda got in hers. I’m still very pleased with my results though! Thanks for the awesome class, Amanda!!
Since I really want to work on my hair, skin, and clothing skills more when it comes to Copic coloring, I picked up a couple of stamps while I was at the shop which will be great practice images. I picked up the Mermaid Friends stamp set up we used in class as well as the Saying a Latte set from Penny Black. I did some practice coloring with a latter today, so be watching my blog tomorrow for a card I created using it. If you’re in the southern California area and are interested in any of these stamps, you can find them at Stamp Fever in Orange!
Until next time …
