For today’s card, I’m featuring the new Vertical Greetings stamp set from Stampin’ Up. This set caught my eye immediately when I got the new catalog because I’ve seen a vertical sentiment set quite like this before and I love it! I enjoyed the monochromatic card I posted Sunday so much that I decided to create another one using this great new stamp set.
I started this card by creating an A2 side-folding card base using Dapper Denim cardstock. I then used my paper trimmer to cut off a 1/2″ strip along the right-hand side of the front of the card base. I stamped the Just Because vertical sentiment from the stamp set along the right-hand edge on the inside of the card using the Dapper Denim ink to create a tone-on-tone look. Since I wanted to keep it as centered horizontally as possible in that half inch area, I used my Mini Misti for this step which made it very easy.
Next, I cut a piece of white cardstock to 3.75 x 5.5″. I stamped one of the topiary images from the stamp set along the right-hand edge using the Dapper Denim ink. I used the Mini Misti for this step as well which allowed me to easily stamp the image twice in the exact same place to ensure I had a nice crisp image. I added some Dapper Denim ruched ribbon around the white cardstock layer then adhered the layer flush with the front of the card base.
Since the Dapper Denim cardstock is a bit dark, I decided to add a white panel inside the card. I cut the panel at 3-5/8 x 5-3/8″. For a bit of added interest. I stamped the top of the topiary image a couple of times along the edge of the card. I stamped off twice before stamping on the panel to keep the look soft and very subtle. To finish the card, I adhered the panel inside leaving a 1/16″ border on the top, bottom, and center of the card. This ensured the inside panel is completely hidden when the card is closed.
I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
- Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – the current theme is summer garden.
- Addicted to CAS – the current theme is petals.
Until next time …
