Monochromatic

For today’s card, I’m stepping outside my comfort zone to create a monochromatic card. The inspiration to create this type of card came from a challenge blog. I initially just planned to skip this week’s challenge, but ended up deciding to give it a try using some of the new Sweet Sugarplum products (ink, cardstock, and ribbon) from Stampin’ Up and the new Love & Affection stamp set.

I started with two strips of white cardstock. I stamped one using the small floral spray image and the other using two individual flower images. While I had the ink out, I also stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of white cardstock. I trimmed it down to the size I wanted then rounded the corners then matted it with some Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.

For the focal image, I cut two squares from each of the floral strips using the Layering Squares Framelits and my Big Shot. I also cut four of the coordinating scalloped squares from the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock to create mats for each piece then assembled them all together using tape runner.

I adhered all the matted squares to a white cardstock layer using some dimensionals. I wrapped a piece of the Sweet Sugarplum ruched ribbon around the layer and adhered the sentiment over it, also with dimensionals. I then adhered the layer to an A2 side-folding card base made from the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock. To finish off the card, I added a couple of rhinestones around the sentiment then went over all the flower petals with a coat of clear Wink of Stella for a little sparkle.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:

Until next time …
