Crafting to Recovery

I apologize for going missing so long from my blog. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I unexpectedly landed in the hospital for several days. I went to the ER because I thought I was having an asthma attack, but it turned out to be a pulmonary embolism (PE). I actually had a bilateral PE which means I had blood clots in both my lungs. Scary! I’m soooooo thankful I trusted my instinct and went to the E.R. because a PE can be fatal. I was in ICU for a couple of days then transferred to the step-down unit where I remained for the rest of my stay.

Since I was in the hospital for nearly a week and the TV was horrible, I had to find creative ways to pass the time. I took a lot of selfies like the one above using various Snapchat filters. Selfies just aren’t quite the same with an oxygen tube on your face. LOL I installed the Kindle app on my iPhone and did quite a bit of reading. I spoke with friends on the phone as my lung function allowed. The one thing I couldn’t really do was craft because I didn’t have any supplies, although I did some coloring on my phone using the Colorfy app.

Now that I’m back home and two weeks removed from my diagnosis, I finally felt up to doing some real crafting. I decided to keep things simple for now and pulled out one of my past Paper Pumpkin kits I hadn’t assembled yet.

The kit I chose was from November 2015, so it contained holiday cards. I figured this was a good way to help jumpstart my holiday card making since the kit made 10 cards, five each of the two designs. So, 10 cards down, about 40 to go. LOL

As a Demonstrator for Stampin’ Up!®, I also had the opportunity to place a preorder from the upcoming holiday catalog. I can’t show the catalog yet, but you can see a sneak peek of the cover in this photo.

My preorder arrived on Friday, so I’ve had a chance to look through everything to ooh and ahh over it. I’m really looking forward to feeling well enough soon to start creating some projects with the goodies I purchased. The catalog will be available for customer orders beginning September 1.

Until next time …

Oh my word! What you’ve been through! You’re right, it was so smart you took yourself to the ER! Despite all you went through, you look great in your selfie! A flower girl! Glad your better and getting to play with your new goodies.

Hi Mel ~ So glad you’re back and recovering successfully. What a positively scary experience you had over the last couple of weeks. So glad you’re feeling a bit better and getting back to normal a little at a time. Love those cards. Continue to be well. ~HUGS~
