Flirty Flamingo Christmas: Paper & Ink Sketch #4

Mel's Card Corner | Paper & Ink Sketch #4

I’m a bit late joining the party since we’re already on sketch number four, but Angie (my upline at Stampin’ Up!®) recently started a new Paper & Ink Sketch challenge. This challenge runs from July 2016 through June 2017 with a new sketch being released every two weeks for a total of 24 sketches.

Here’s my card using the current sketch.

Mel's Card Corner | Paper & Ink Sketch #4

I love creating holiday cards using non-traditional colors. For this card, I used Flirty Flamingo and the Tin of Tags stamp set coming in the new holiday catalog on Sept. 1.

I started by stamping the snowflake and small bulb image from the Tin of Tags stamp set on a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock using Flirty Flamingo ink to create my own tone-on-tone patterned paper. I then created a matted layer using Flirty Flamingo cardstock and a piece of striped Flirty Flamingo DSP from the 2016-2018 In Color Stack. I wrapped it with some Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon and added a small know on the left side to match the sketch.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the Tin of Tags set on Whisper White cardstock using the Flirty Flamingo ink again. I cut it out using one of the circle framelits from the Layering Circles Framelits. I also cut a scalloped mat for it using one of the scalloped framelits from the same set.

To assemble the card, I adhered my stamped layer to the bottom third of the card base using snail adhesive. I added the matted stripe layer using Dimensionals, then added the matted sentiment on top of that, also using Dimensionals. To finish the card, I added three rhinestones in the upper right corner.
