I’m still working on fairly easy cards right now as I continue to recover from the flu. As much as I enjoy CAS designs, I’m looking forward to getting back to doing a few more detailed cards as soon as I’m feeling up to it.
I stamped the little mouse image from the Merry Stamp stamp set from Stampin’ Up!® twice – once on the card base and again on a piece of watercolor paper. I watercolored him using my Stampin’ Write Markers in Soft Suede, Rose Red, and So Saffron inks using one of my larger acrylic blocks as a palette. I watered the inks down in varying degrees to achieve different shades of the three colors.
I also quickly colored the mouse on the card base. I planned to pop the watercolor image up on some Dimensionals, so I just wanted some color on the base image for consistency purposes instead of leaving it just plain white. I used a blender pen to add a bit of ground beneath him on the card base using the Soft Suede ink.
When the watercolor piece was dry, I fussy cut him out. I didn’t bother trying to cut out the tail or whiskers since I was going to layer him over the stamped image on the card base. I went around the edges with a black marker to covered the exposed edge. I added some Dimensionals and adhered him over the stamped mouse on the card base making sure I got everything lined up evening. I love the little of dimension that brings to the card.
I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
- CAS Colours & Sketches – the current theme is seasonal colors. Participants are asked to use any 2016 color challenge and add a seasonal twist. I selected challenge #157 – Rose Red, So Saffron, and Soft Suede.
- StampNation – the current theme is an either or both challenge using critters and/or a chalf board technique. Obviously, I chose the critter route. 🙂 (membership required)
One last thing …
I wanted to take a moment to thank the Design Team at The Paper Players for selecting my card as one of their Cut Above winners for the challenge this week. The challenge was a sketch challenge and they selected my Holiday Lights card as one of their winners. Thanks for the honor, DT!! I’ve updated my Challenge Wins/Features page to include this latest badge.
Until next time …
