Mel's Card Corner | Ink Party Collection Blog Hop

Welcome to my post for the Ink Party Collection Blog Hop. You should have arrived here from Allison’s blog. If not, no worries, I’ll provide a list of links for the entire hop at the bottom of this post.

Today, we’re celebrating the launch of the eight new ink colors being released today from Catherine Pooler Designs. With this release, Catherine’s full ink pad line now includes 12 gorgeous colors in her Party Collection as well as her Midnight (black) archival ink which is waterproof and safe for use with Copic markers. If you aren’t familiar with Catherine’s ink, you can learn more about them here.

Check out all these fabulous colors in the Party Collection! I think Aquatini may be my favorite, but I love them all. The bright colors just make me so happy and they stamp fabulously!

Not only are there new ink colors, but Catherine is launching ink refills for her collection, too. Woo Hoo!! In additional to refills for the eight new colors released today, she also launched refills for the five original colors that came in the Foundations Box. The awesome round acrylic block included in the Foundations Box is now available as a separate purchase, too.

I think that covers all the product release details, so let’s get to the card. For my card today, I wanted to try and include as many of the new ink colors as possible. I decided there was no better way to do that than by going with a rainbow theme. Here’s the card I made:

I started by using a piece of watercolor paper and the Lovely Lattice background stamp from Catherine. I inked each of the rows of the background using Rockin’ Red, Tiki Torch, Tiara, Lime Rickey, Aquatini, Something Borrowed, and Flirty Fuchsia. Once I had everything inked, I spritzed it a few times with water using a mister then applied my watercolor paper to it. I dabbed off the excess water then set it aside to dry while I worked on the other elements for my card.

For the sentiment on my card, I stamped one of the hello images from the Hello World stamp set by Catherine. I stamped it using her Midnight ink then quickly added some clear embossing powder and heat set it. I then used the coordinating die to cut it out.

After my watercolor panel was dry, I matted it with some Licorice Twist card stock from Bazzill then adhered it to a top-folding A2 card base made from Catherine’s Ultra Smooth Premium Card Stock. I went over the background stamping using a Spectrum Noir clear glitter pen to give it a bit or sparkle. I adhered the sentiment using some foam tape to give it a bit of dimension and that finished the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Your next stop in the hop is with the amazing Kelly Griglione. As promised, I’m including a list to all the other stops on this hop as well. I would definitely encourage you to visit all of them and check out the incredible designs everyone created using these fabulous new colors from Catherine.

Hi Melissa! Beautiful card, thank you for sharing a watercolor technique using her inks. These inks are just amazing.

  3. Marcia says:

Oh Wow! I love a blog hop! I started being so impressed with the color blending on a heat embossed background – then a similar background using a stencil and now a third technique where you use a background stamp inked with multiple inks!. Who would have thought of so many ways to get a similar design Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. Patti Blankenship says:

I love that we can use all the colors together. How fun. They are so bright and beautiful. Mine are on the way, and I’m excited.

We all created our cards independently. It certainly seems like a couple of us were definitely on the same wave length of wanting to showcase as many of the new ink colors as possible. 🙂

  5. Leanne in Cali says:

  8. Carol Hardie says:

Nicely done. The black mat and sentiment really made the Rainbow of Colors pop. The Spectrum Noir sparkle added just enough bling. Really love this card.

  9. June Ramsamy says:

Hi Melissa, love your card! Beautiful blending of colours. Enjoying this hop. Thank you so much for sharing your tutorial. X

  10. Joyce Spear says:

As you may have noticed (or not) I’m a bright color person, so it is no surprise that your card immediately caught my attention! I love how you let the background shine rather than covering it up with all sorts of bits and pieces. I have a feeling that once my inks arrive I’ll be doing a similar card with whatever background stamp is closest. 🙂

  11. Maureen Peterson says:

Beautiful card!! I love the rainbow cards with these colors so much!! Also love the bit of sparkle you added at the end!! 🙂

  12. Andrea Dulaney says:

I have been wanting to do the water drop technique but have been scared to do it with other inks. I see how easy it is and can’t wait til I get my inks. CAN’T WAIT!!!! lol

  13. Sharon Nesvog says:

Hi Melissa! I love the technique you used with the background stamp and your new CP Inks! And I love that so many are using a rainbow theme for this special blog-hop! It just showcases the colors so beautifully! Your card is very beautiful…and I love the glitter!! 😉 TFS!
