Hi, everyone! Sorry I disappeared for the past week. I’ve been horribly ill battling strep throat and a nasty upper respiratory infection. I’m finally starting to feel semi-human again, thankfully!
It’s the 17th of the month, so you know what that means … well, since it’s February, that means today is my BIRTHDAY! Beside that little occasion, the 17th also means it’s time for the Calling All Sistahs blog hop hosted by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. It’s a friendly reminder for all of us to perform our monthly breast self-check and have an awesome blog hop full of inspiration at the same time. So, take a few minutes to check yourself, then come hop along with us. If it’s almost time for your regular mammogram, today would be a great day to schedule that, too … consider it your little birthday present to me. 🙂
You should have arrived here from Penny’s blog. If not, don’t worry, I’ll have a list to the full hop at the end of this post. Be sure to leave comments on each of the stops along the hop. Michele, the owner of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, will be giving two lucky winners (selected by random draw) a gift certificate to her online store. To be eligible for the drawing, you must leave your comments by no later than 12 a.m. EST on February 19th.
I decided to use the new Full on Floral background stamp from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps to create a 4 bar notecard for my design for the hop. As soon as I saw the gorgeous stamp in the latest release, I knew it would be perfect to use for the easy ombre background technique shown a couple of weeks ago by Jennifer McGuire.
I stamped the image on a piece of white card stock using VersaMark then heat embossed it using white embossing powder. After the embossing had cooled, I used a mini ink blending tool and sponged on some Party Dress ink from Catherine Pooler Designs on the lower half of the panel. I then switched to a Clarity Stencil Brush in the middle of the card to create a softer look then let it fade out to white near the top of the card.
For the sentiment, I used the Hope Fri-Die, also from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. To give it a bit of dimension, I cut it once from white card stock and again from a piece of pink fun foam. I added some sponging on the bottom half to replicate the ombre look of the background. I then coated it with some VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using some clear sparkle embossing powder.
To finish the card, I created a top-folding 4 bar card base from some Melon Mambo card stock by Stampin’ Up. I cut the card stock to 3.5 x 9.75″ then scored it at 4-7/8″. I adhered the ombre background panel using tape runner then added the sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by today as part of this blog hop. Your next stop will be Sandi’s blog. As promised earlier, here’s a list of all the stops for the hop this month. Don’t forget to leave a comment on each stop for your chance to win a gift certificate to CAS-ual Fridays Stamps!
