Make a Medallion (More New SAB Items)

For today’s card, I thought I would showcase the two other new Sale-a-Bration items released by Stampin’ Up!® yesterday. In addition to the Reverse Words stamp set I used for yesterday’s card, the two other new products are the Make a Medallion stamp set and the 6×6″ glimmer paper assortment which includes four sheets each of Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron, and Sweet Sugarplum.

I started by stamping the medallion images on a scrap piece of white card stock. This is a two-step layering set, so I used Crumb Cake ink for one layer and Mini Macaron for the other. I also stamped the small happy birthday sentiment from the Big on Birthdays stamp set on the same scrap piece of white card stock using the Mint Macaron ink. I then added one of the small flourishes from the Make a Medallion stamp set on each end using Crumb Cake ink.

I trimmed the sentiment down to size using my paper trimmer. For an extra bit of added interest, I cut the ends to a point using the Classic Label punch. Since my sentiment was longer than length of the punch, I just inserted one end at a time into the punch rather than inserting the whole thing in all at once.

I cut out the medallion image using one of the circle dies from the Layering Circles Framelits. I used one of the scalloped dies from the same set in a larger size to cut a scalloped circle from the Mini Macaron glimmer paper (from the new 6×6″ assortment) as a mat for my medallion. I just love the sparkle it adds to the card!

I adhered the medallion circle to the glimmer paper with some Tear and Tape. Glimmer paper can be tricky sometimes to get things to stick to it, so I wanted to use a really strong adhesive. I then adhered the sentiment strip over the middle of the medallion circle using some tape runner.

To assemble the card, I created an A2 top-folding card base from Crumb Cake card stock. To that, I added a 4 x 5.25″ piece of designer series paper from the Blooms & Bliss DSP pack using some tape runner. I adhered the matted medallion piece to the DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Since the sentiment was overhanging the circle a bit, I added a small piece of Stampin’ Dimensional on either end to keep it at the same height.

For the inside of my card, I cut a piece of white card stock to 4 x 5.25″. I stamped one of the other flourish images from the Make a Medallion stamp set at the top and bottom of the panel. I thought this was a nice way to dress up the inside of the card a bit and help tie it all together with the rest of the card. I adhered the panel using some tape runner and that finished my card.

I’m entering this card in the following challenge:

Until next time …
