Peacock Tail Thanks

Now that we’re a couple of days past the launch of the latest Stamp of Approval collection, I thought I would branch out a bit and start pulling in some other products to use in conjunction with the new collection. For today’s card, I pulled in some colorful card stock for my card base as well as a sentiment from a past collection.

Mel's Card Corner | Peacock Tail Thanks

To start my card, I cut a layer of white card stock to A2 size. I did some repeat stamping along the diagonal using the peacock tail image from the Paisley Peacock stamp set in the new collection. I used sponge daubers to apply multiple inks to create the multicolor effect. I used Fiesta Blue, Aquatini, and Lime Rickey inks from Catherine Pooler Designs for this step. I used the larger polka dot accent stamp from the stamp set and Lime Rickey ink to fill in the gaps between the tails.

Once I had all the stamping done, I fussy cut around the lower edge to create the scalloped effect. This is just an extension of the idea I got from Amy for the card I posted yesterday.

Once I had the technique panel completed, I created an A2 top-folding card base from Mermaid card stock by Lawn Fawn. I stamped the solid thanks sentiment from the Painted Thanks stamp set by Neat & Tangled in the lower right corner using Catherine’s Midnight ink. This stamp set was part of the Lovely Notes collection released last year, but the products can be purchasing individually now in Catherine’s online store.

To complete my card, I wrapped some black baker’s twine around my technique panel and tied it off with a small bow. I adhered the technique panel to the card base using foam tape. For a bit of added bling, I went over all the little tail feathers and sentiment with the clear Sparkle pen from Spectrum Noir and that finished my card.

I’m entering this card in the following challenge:

Until next time …

This is really gorgeous, Melissa! The colour palette and shapes really do bring to mind a peacock and the combined effect is stunning. The bold sentiment sets it all off perfectly. A lovely card! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More 🙂

Your repeat stamping is perfection Melissa and the way you graduated the ink on the stamps makes the pattern look so good! The bakers twine teams in really well with that glorious sentiment – such a fab font. Love it. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Less is More xx
