Global Design Project 080 | CASEing Louise Sharp

I haven’t played along with the Global Design Project challenge in a while, so I thought I would check in to see what the new challenge is for this week. When I saw it was CASEing the fabulous Louise Sharp, I knew I had to play along!

For my card, I decided to CASE the layout of Louise’s inspiration card. I started by creating an A2 top-folding card base from Mint Macaron cardstock from Stampin’ Up!® For my background layer, I cut a 4 x 5.25″ layer using the beautiful Succulent Garden designer series paper pack. I also cut an accent piece at 1/2 x 4″ using the Tip Top Taupe gingham paper from the same DSP pack.

For the focal image, I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 2 x 3.25″. I created the tag shape at the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch then rounded the bottom corners using the Project Life Corner Punch.

I stamped the adorable little dog, cupcake, and a sentiment from the Bella & Friends stamp set on the tag I created using Tip Top Taupe ink. I used a blender pen to color my image. I used Tip Top Taupe for Bella and the cupcake liner, Mint Macaron for the cupcake frosting and Bella’s collar, Watermelon Wonder for the candle and Bella’s heart tag, and Delightful Dijon for the candle flame. So my images wouldn’t just be floating in thin air, I added a bit of “ground” beneath them using Smoky Slate.

For a bit of added interest on the tag, I added some clear Wink of Stella on the cupcake frosting, candle flame, and Bella’s little heart tag. I then sponged around the edges of the tag using Tip Top Taupe ink to help set it off a bit from the background and give it a bit of depth. To complete the tag, I added a bit of the silver metallic ribbon available through March 31 as part of Sale-a-Bration.

To assemble the card. I adhered the gingham accent piece to the DSP layer using tape runner. I then adhered the layer to the card base, also using tape running. Finally, I adhered the tag to my card using some Stampin’ Dimensionals and that finished my card.

Here’s a look at the inspiration card from Louise. How’d I do CASEing her? Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think.

In case you haven’t heard, Stampin’ Up added some additional products last week to the current Sale-a-Bration promotion which will be wrapping up on Friday (March 31). One of the new items added is the Succulent Garden DSP I used for this card. I absolutely LOVE this paper, so I’ve decided to showcase this paper, along with a few other Sale-a-Bration items, over the next few days to give you one last dose of inspiration before they’re gone for good. If you want to get some of this gorgeous paper, head over to my online store and place an order. If you purchase at least $50 (before tax and shipping), you can earn this paper for FREE (retail value $11).

Until next time …
