Paper & Ink Sketches 18

Mel's Card Corner | Paper & Ink Sketches 18

Today is a dual-purpose post. I’ve created a card for the latest sketch from the Paper & Ink Sketches series, but it’s also my final card for my product spotlight featuring Mint Macaron and the Succulent Garden designer series paper pack.

I started this card by doing all the paper cutting. I created an A2 top-folding card base in Mint Macaron card stock from Stampin’ Up!® I also cut a Mint Macaron mat for my focal panel and a square for the die cut scalloped circle. From Whisper White, I cut pieces for my focal panel, a signature panel for the inside of my card, and a square for the die cut stitched circle.

On the focal panel piece of Whisper White, I stamped one of the topiary images from the Vertical Greetings stamp set. I used a sticky note to mask off the trunk and top part of the topiary and inked up the base using Tip Top Taupe ink. (Be sure to remove the sticky note mask before stamping!) Next, I put the sticky note over the base of the topiary and inked up the trunk and top part using Mint Macaron ink. Before moving on to the die cutting, I also stamped the Just a Note sentiment from the stamp set included in the Watercolor Wishes kit in the middle of the small square of Whisper White card stock using the Tip Top Taupe ink.

After I had all the stamping completed, I pulled out my Big Shot to die cut my circles. For the sentiment, I used the second smallest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. From the small square of Mint Macaron, I die cut the 2″ scalloped circle from the Layering Circle Framelits Dies. I then adhered the sentiment circle to the scalloped circle using Snail adhesive.

To assemble the card, I adhered the DSP background layer to the card base using Snail adhesive. I also used Snail adhesive to adhere the focal panel to the coordinating Mint Macaron layer. I adhered the matted focal panel to the DSP layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a few more Dimensionals to adhered the matted sentiment circle to the focal panel.

To bring the outside of my card to the inside, I decided to stamp the topiary on the Whisper White signature panel. I used the Mint Macaron for this step, but stamped off once on scratch paper before stamping on the panel. This helped keep the look very soft and subtle. I then adhered the signature panel to the card using Snail adhesive.

You know a card by me isn’t complete without a little shimmer, right? I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella on the top of the topiary on the main focal panel on the outside of the card. Sadly, it just doesn’t seem to show up in my photos today, but it’s there! LOL For a bit of extra bling, I also added three of the silver circles from the Metallics Enamel Shapes to the lower corner of my focal panel and that finished the card.

Until next time …
