For whatever reason, I completely spaced St. Patrick’s Day is coming up on Friday. I needed a quick and easy card I could make and pop in the mail yesterday to be sure it arrived on time. Thankfully, I think I own everything Stampin’ Up!® offers in our Emerald Envy color which is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day projects!
I started by cutting a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock to 4 x 5.25″. I also cut a piece of Emerald Envy patterned paper from the 2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack. You will also need a small scrap of Whisper White card stock for the sentiment piece.
Next was time for a bit of die cutting. I pulled out my Big Shot and cut one of the scalloped ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies from the middle of the Emerald Envy card stock layer. I also used the second smallest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut an oval from the scrap piece of Whisper White.
On the Whisper White oval, I stamped the Happy St. Patrick’s Day sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set using Emerald Envy ink. I stamped on the right half of the oval just slightly higher than center. Since I didn’t really have any St. Patrick’s Day themed stamps, I used the little heart from the Jar of Love stamp set to create my own “shamrock.” I stamped three of the hearts using Emerald Envy ink stamped off once. I then used one of the flower stem stamps, also from Jar of Love, to create a little stem. I masked off the edge of my oval using a sticky note to shorten the stem image to the length I wanted.
To assemble the card, I adhered the stitched oval to the scalloped oval using tape runner. I also adhered the patterned paper to the large Emerald Envy layer using tape runner. I wrapped a piece of Emerald Envy Ruched Ribbon around the matted layer adhering it down on the back using some Scotch tape.
I adhered the layer to an A2 top-folding card base made from Whisper White Thick card stock using tape runner. I then adhered the layered ovals over the ribbon using Dimensionals. For a bit of shimmer, I went over my “shamrock” using a clear Wink of Stella pen. Finally, I added some of the Emerald Envy Enamel Shapes under the sentiment and that completed this quick and easy card.
I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
- The Paper Players – the current theme is a green and white color challenge.
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – the current theme is bit ‘o green.
Until next time …
