I’m back today with part two of my use those scraps mini-series. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, these cards came about because I had a little pile of scraps sitting on the corner of my craft table for a few days, so I decided to just use them to create a couple of cards rather than filing them away. This is the second of the two cards I created using those scraps.
For this card, I used scraps of Melon Mambo cardstock and striped designer series paper (DSP), both from Stampin’ Up!® The striped DSP I used is actually retired, but the striped paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack would look almost identical. The stripes on it are just a bit smaller than the DSP I used.
I decided to mat the DSP with the cardstock and use them as a ground point for my card. I adhered them together using some tape runner than adhered them to an A2 top-folding card base, again using some tape runner to keep everything nice and flat.
I grabbed a few pieces of white cardstock scraps from my scrap pile to use for my stamping. The images I used for this card are from the Balloon Adventures stamp set. I stamped the sentiment using Melon Mambo ink then cut it out using one of the circles from the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies.
I also stamped the balloon images on a piece of scrap white cardstock. I stamped the solid image first stamping off once on some scrap paper first. I then stamped the patterned images over the solid image. For a bit of sparkle, I went over the solid areas using a clear Wink of Stella pen which also helped even out the color a bit. Sadly, it doesn’t really show up in the photos, but the balloons are very shimmery. When the Wink of Stella was dry, I punched out the balloons using the Balloon Bouquet punch.
I decided where I wanted to place my balloons and sentiment before actually adhering them. Based on that placement, I stamped the two balloon strings directly on the card base using Smoky Slate ink. I then adhered the sentiment and balloons using some Dimensionals and that completed the card.
I’m entering this card in the following challenge:
One Last Thing …
Speaking of the Seize the Birthday challenge, I just wanted to give a shout out to their Design Team. They selected my Out of This World Double Slider card as a winner for their last challenge. Thanks for the honor, DT!!
Until next time …
