Mel's Card Corner | Spring Fling Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the Spring Fling Release blog hop! The design team is celebrating the latest release of new inks, stamps, and dies from Catherine Pooler by showcasing projects we’ve created using products from the new release. This release consists of the following new products:

  • 8 inks (Bellini, Garden Party, It’s a Boy, It’s a Girl, Melon Ice, Mint to Be, Pixie Dust, and Sweet Sixteen)
  • Dotted Circles Dies
  • Circle Dies (sized to coordinate with Catherine’s circle stamp sets)
  • Spot On Sentiments Dies (available individually or as a bundle)
  • Simply Stated Stamp Set
  • Beautiful You Stamp Set
  • Modern Damask Stamp Set

You should have arrived here from the blog of the incredibly talented Chrissie at Harvest Moon Papiere. If you didn’t, no worries. I’ll include a full list of the hop participants at the end of my post. Additionally, if you get lost at any point along the hop, you can head over to Catherine’s blog at any point to start again or find your place.

Mel's Card Corner | Spring Fling Release Blog Hop

For my first card today, I wanted to showcase the gorgeous new Modern Damask background stamp. Isn’t it gorgeous?!!! I stamped it on a piece of white cardstock using the new Mint to Be ink. I then used the Happy word die from the new Spot on Sentiments die bundle to create a negative space in my background. I took a scrap piece of white cardstock and sponged it with the Mint to Be ink to create a coordinating panel to go behind the negative space. For a bit of pop, I heat embossed the birthday sentiment from the Simply Stated stamp set on a piece of black card stock using white embossing powder then fussy cut it out. To tie it all together, I stamped the diagonal stripe border from the previously released Yay Stripes stamp set using Midnight ink to create a fun accent along the left edge of my panel.

Naturally, I couldn’t let that beautiful Happy die cut leftover from the first card go to waste, right?! I die cut it a second time using some pale gray cardstock from my stash, then adhered them together to create a drop shadow effect. I also die cut a large circle using one of the new Circle Dies then sponged it the Mint to Be ink. I adhered the Happy sentiment to the circle then stamped the Everything sentiment from the Spot On stamp set included in the Foundations Box under it using Midnight ink. To give my card base a bit of interest, I used some of the small images in the new Beautiful You stamp set and the new ink colors to create my own “patterned paper” background.

In case you couldn’t tell, Mint to Be might be my favorite of the new ink colors. 😉 I literally squealed in delight when I received the new inks a couple of weeks ago in my design team package and saw it. Bellini is a very close second though. I LOVE these are pastel colors, yet still bright and vibrant.

Here’s a peek at the entire range of inks available from Catherine now. Aren’t they gorgeous?!!!

These inks work beautifully for sponging, ink blending, and direct to paper techniques! Of course, this will also dry your ink pads out a bit faster since they’re foam ink pads. When you order your new inks, don’t forget to grab the reinkers as well so you can keep your ink pads nice and juicy even if you are using them for techniques and not just stamping.

Mel's Card Corner | Spring Fling Sneak Peek

In case you missed my sneak peek card yesterday, here it is again. It features all twenty of Catherine’s inks along with her black Midnight ink. The dotted line image and sentiment are from the new Simply Stated stamp set. As always, you can click the image for a larger view. From top to bottom, the colors are It’s a Girl, Party Dress, Rockin’ Red, Tutti Frutti, Orange Twist, Tiki Torch, Bellini, Tiara, Melon Ice, Garden Party, (sentiment), Lime Rickey, Grass Skirt, Mint to Be, Aquatini, It’s a Boy, Fiesta Blue, Something Borrowed, Sweet Sixteen, Pixie Dust, and Flirty Fuchsia.
