Happy Saturday, everyone! I’ve been sitting on a bit of a secret the past few weeks that I can finally share. Yay! Michele from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps (CFS) has asked me to be a Girl Friday as part of her new Encouragement Squad over on the Calling All Sistahs blog. I love the cause, the new challenge she’s created, and her products, so this is a win-win-win for me!
For those of you visiting from the Calling All Sistahs blog who may not know me, I thought I would share a little info about myself in this intro post. I was born and raised in Tennessee and lived there until I was in my early 30s and made the decision to relocate to southern California. I’ve been in SoCal ever since. By day, I work in the aerospace industry as a software administrator/developer, but love to come home at night and craft to relax and unwind. It’s a great stress reliever!
As you may have noticed from the tag line of my blog, I love sending/giving handmade cards to people. Encouragement cards or just general cards to let someone know I’m thinking of them are my favorite kind to send. While I love sending birthday and holiday days as well, I think there’s just something particularly magical about brightening someone’s day with a “just because” card.
For my card today, I started by masking off a section across the bottom of my focal panel using Post-It tape. I used a mini ink blending tool and blended on some It’s a Boy ink from Catherine Pooler Designs (CPD) and let it fade out to white near the top of the panel. I removed the mask then stamped the sentiment using words from the Casual Comfort stamp set from CFS using Midnight ink from CPD.
Next, I turned my attention to the bottom of the panel. I used various foliage images from the same Casual Comfort stamp set from CFS and randomly stamped them along the bottom of the panel. For this, I used Lime Rickey, Garden Party, and Grass Skirt inks from CPD.
After I had my stamping completed, I cut a thin strip of black card stock and adhered it using Multi Medium Matte to the focal panel. This allowed me to not only cover the masking line, but it helped tie in the black ink I used for my sentiment with the rest of the card.
I adhered the focal panel to a piece of bright green card stock I had in my stash. Unfortunately, it wasn’t labeled, so I have no idea who makes it or what the actual color name is for it. I also added a white panel inside the card as a signature panel. I forgot to take a photo of it, but I added a few of the foliage images in the lower right corner of that panel, but stamped off once first to keep the look very subtle.
Thanks for much for stopping by my blog today. I’m thrilled I could finally share the news about my newest Design Team position. If you’re new to my blog, I hope you’ll come back!
