Hi everyone! I’m thrilled to be featured in this month’s International Highlights Top Ten Winners Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Kylie Bertucci. I was selected to participate in this hop by being finishing in the top ten (I was ranked #3!) of the vote for the April International Highlights with my sweet little hedgehog wedding card. Since wedding cards were the theme for the April Highlights, we’re continuing with that theme for the Top Ten Winners Blog Hop.
I did some quick research to find out what some of the current color trends are for weddings this year. As soon as I saw this mood board on The Wedding Playbook, I knew it would be the perfect inspiration for this hop. The cake immediately made me think of one of the gorgeous speciality papers in the new Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper pack.
Since the Eastern Palace suite from the new catalog is currently available for customers to purchase through a special early access bundle promotion, I thought it would be fun to combine some products from it along with some products from the current catalog which are carrying over to the new catalog. The ornateness of the gorgeous Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies in the Eastern Palace bundle just seemed perfect for a wedding card, too!
I started by cutting a panel of Very Vanilla card stock to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8″. Using a couple of the dies from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies, I cut a medallion design in the upper third of the panel. I stamped one of the small flourishes from the Eastern Beauty stamp set around the medallion using Tranquil Tide ink.
On a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock, I stamped the wedding sentiment from the Floral Phrases stamp set using Tranquil Tide ink. I cut it out using the smallest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. At the same time, I also cut the coordinating size scalloped circle from the Layering Circle Framelits Dies from Tranquil Tide card stock to use as a mat for my sentiment. After they were cut, I adhered them together using Snail Adhesive.
I pull in the peach color from the inspiration board, I cut a 3.25″ square piece of Peekaboo Peach cardstock and adhered it behind the die cut medallion using Snail Adhesive. To incorporate the gold, I added a 1.5 x 3-7/8″ piece of the gold foil specialty paper from the Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper as an accent at the bottom of the panel. I wrapped a bit of 1/4″ Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon around the panel to hide the seam then finished it off with a bow.
Finally, I created a top-folding card base from Very Vanilla card stock. I adhered the focal panel to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and that completed my card.
I really hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my card as part of this hop. Here’s a full list of all the Demonstrators taking part in this hop. Please be sure to visit each of them and show them some love by leaving a comment.
Sadly, one of our fellow Top Ten Winners isn’t able to participate because her mother is in the hospital. Please keep Christine and her mother in your thoughts!
Until next time …
