Naturally Inspired SOA Blog Hop

Mel's Card Corner | Naturally Inspired Blog Hop

In case you haven’t heard already, Catherine Pooler is releasing a new Stamp of Approval collection this week. The new collection is called the Naturally Inspired collection and today is the kick off of the big three day Design Team blog hop. You should have arrived here from Catherine’s blog, but if you didn’t, don’t worry. I’ll include a full list of all the stops for today’s hop at the end of this post.

Here’s the schedule of events for the release this week:

  • Sunday, June 4 – Blog Hop Day 1 begins at 9am ET
  • Monday, June 5 – Blog Hop Day 2 begins at 9am ET
  • Tuesday, June 6 – Blog Hop Day 3 begins at 9am ET
  • Tuesday, June 6 – StampNation Exclusive PJ Party SOA Launch begins at 10pm ET with ordering opening immediately after for StampNation members
  • Wednesday, June 7 – Ordering opens for the Wait List at 9am ET
  • Thursday, June 8 – If the collection hasn’t sold out, general ordering opens at 9am ET

If you aren’t familiar with Stamp of Approval, each box is an exclusive collection. The products included were designed specifically FOR each particular collection. These are brand new products and they won’t be available for individual purchase for many months. Each box contains a minimum retail value of $120 in product, but only costs $97 plus tax and shipping.

When I received this collection a few weeks ago to create my Design Team projects, I was SHOCKED by just how much stuff Catherine was able to pack into this collection. Here are a couple of cards I created using products from the new Naturally Inspired collection.

Mel's Card Corner | Naturally Inspired Blog Hop

For my first card, I heat embossed the flourish from the Birds of a Feather stamp set using the Wanderlust embossing powder. I used the Best Die to create a negative space word then added a pop of color behind it. I used words from the Simply the Best sentiment builder stamp set to create the sentiment banner.

Mel's Card Corner | Naturally Inspired Blog Hop

For my second card today, I created a shaker card using the Lattice Frame Die from the collection. I used three of Catherine’s inks to create the ink blended background for my card. I then die cut the lattice window out once from the ink blended background and a second time from a piece of white cardstock. I reserved the ink blended lattice panel to use on a future project since I didn’t need it for this design.

Mel's Card Corner | Naturally Inspired Blog Hop

After adhering acetate behind the opening on the ink blended background, I adhered the white lattice panel to the acetate inside the opening using Multi Medium Matte. To give the shaker a bit more of a festive feel, I stamped the pennant banner from Simple the Best then fussy cut it out to adhere across the lattice shaker window. To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment using various words from the Simply the Best sentiment builder stamp set on black cardstock then heat embossed it in white to match the lattice window.

Mel's Card Corner | Naturally Inspired Blog Hop

My second card definitely ties in more with the whole Naturally Inspired theme of this collection. Flowers and foliage are the biggest sources of inspiration for me, so this collection is right up my alley. I absolutely love walking through a flower market or garden and taking photos of the flowers to use as color inspiration for my projects.

What inspires you? Leave a comment below and let me know. Be sure to visit all the blogs in the hop and leave a comment on all of them. Three randomly selected commenters, one from each day of the hop, will win their very own Naturally Inspired collection! Winners will be announced on June 9 on Catherine’s blog. If the winners have already bought the collection, they will be issued a Gift Certificate worth $100 toward a future purchase.

As promised, here’s a list of all the stops for today’s hop:

Don’t forget, this is only day one of our big three-day blog hop. Be sure to visit Catherine’s blog tomorrow, Monday, June 5, and Tuesday, June 6, for days two and three of the hop.  Her blog is the starting point for the hop each day.  Be sure to visit all the stops each day and leave a comment for your chance to win!

I won’t be participating in days two or three of the hop, but will be back both days showcasing a card using the Naturally Inspired collection. I’ll also be back on both the wait list release day (June 7) and general ordering release day (June 8) with more designs to share. Basically, just plan to stop by pretty much every day this week if you want to see lots of design ideas for the new Naturally Inspired collection. 🙂

Until next time …

  9. Beverly Roachell says:

Both cards are fantastic. In the first one the soft flourish just makes the “Best” pop out with the color background. Many uses for this, not just birthday. And the shaker card is great. Love the lattice panel. This is a must collection to have!

I like your creative use of the Flourish as a background, stepped up by embossing. Also using the negative space of the Best sentiment with a pop of that beautiful blue green
underneath. The curves in both the stamp and die go well together. The lattice makes an elegant and exotic shaker front. I’m inspired and frequently amazed by the creative expressions of other paper crafting artists.

  14. Ruth Ann Smith says:

When I retired two years ago I needed to start a hobby. I always had an interest in crafts. I did tee shirts with my daughters as well as cardmaking. Back in the late 80’s, we didn’t have much. I did that for 6-7 years. So, I decided to see what was out there now. WOW, was I surprised! Catherine’s videos were the first ones I saw. She made it look fun, interesting and challenging. I liked her upbeat spirit and her attitude about making a mistake. We are all “human”. So, here I am two years later having the greatest time. I make cards for my grandsons teacher and school staff, neighbors, friends and family. I’m not the most artistic person but I’m having Fun Fun Fun doing what I’m doing. Thanks for the new chapter in my life.
