Embossing Paste Fun

One of the new products I was most excited about in the 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up!® catalog was the embossing paste. I LOVE playing with embossing/texture paste on my cards and couldn’t wait to give this new paste from Stampin’ Up a try.

It’s a bit lighter in consistency than some of the other pastes I used before, but I really like it! I tinted some of it with the Lemon Lime Twist reinker and made a few pieces using the medallion mask from the new Pattern Party masks. Once they were dry, I cut them apart to create a few cards.

For the first card, I fussy cut the medallion then trimmed a bit off two of the sides so it would fit flush with the top corner of the card base. All of the card bases were created using the coordinating Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. I stamped one of the sentiments from the Eastern Beauty stamp set using VersaMark ink then heat embossed it using white embossing powder. I then adhered the fussy cut medallion piece to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the next card, I once again fussy cut the medallion then cut about a third of it off to use on my card. I adhered it flush with the left-hand edge of the card base using Snail adhesive. To complete this card, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set in the lower right corner using Basic Black ink.

For the final card, I used the remnant of the medallion from the second card and cut a strip from the middle about 1.5″ wide. I adhered it to the left-hand side of the card base about 1/4″ in from the edge using Snail adhesive. To finish this card, I stamped two of the sentiments from the Dare to Dream hostess set in the lower right corner using Basic Black ink.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my cards today. I will definitely be using this embossing paste on more of my cards going forward. It adds such amazing texture to cards and it’s fun to play with which is an added bonus.

Until next time …

I’ve been dying to try texture paste with color and this is a great place to start. One question, what paper did you use to do the stenciling and did you gesso it? Thanks for your always great ideas.

Hi, Sharon! Oops, I just realized I didn’t include the white card stock in my supply list. Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll be sure to update the supply list. I used thick Whisper White (100 pound). The regular 80 pound would probably have been okay, but I opted to use the heavier paper to minimize any potential warping issues. I didn’t gesso it before using the embossing paste.
