This Little Piggy

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I transferred into a new position at work on June 1 and life has been pretty chaotic since then as I’ve been getting acclimated. I’ve been going through lots of training and studying for certification exams, so there’s been little time for crafting, sadly. Thankfully, I think I’m past the worst of it and actually managed to squeeze in a bit of crafty time yesterday. Yay!!

Mel's Card Corner | This Little Piggy

I created the adorable little piggy card using products from the new 2017-2018 annual catalog launched by Stampin’ Up last month. The stamp set I used is called This Little Piggy. The little pigs in this set are just so stinkin’ cute!

Since I was going with a pig theme, I used lots of products in Powder Pink which is one of our new In Colors for 2017-2019. The designer series paper (DSP) is from the Fresh Florals paper stack.

I stamped the little pig and the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink. Once the ink was dry, I colored the pig in using Stampin’ Write markers in Powder Pink, Pear Pizzazz, and Crumb Cake. I cut the pig out using one of our stitched circles from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I cut out the sentiment using the Classic Label Punch. Since I knew I planned to trim the right end off flush with the panel, I lined up the punch to keep the sentiment on the left-hand side.

To create the main layer, I used a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 3-7/8 x 5-1/2″. I added the piece of DSP which was cut to 3-3/8 x 3-7/8″ at the bottom of the white panel. To hide the seam, I wrapped a piece of Powder Pink Finely Woven Ribbon and finished it off with a simple knot. I adhered the little pig element over the ribbon using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To complete the focal panel, I adhered the sentiment to the lower right corner of the panel then trimmed away the excess to keep it flush with the panel.

To give my panel a bit of extra interest, I decided to add a scalloped border on either side. I created the border using the new Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. Not only does this punch create a gorgeous ribbon detail, but it also has this adorable mini scallop on the opposite side. How cool is that?! I love when a product has more than one way it can be used! After attaching the scalloped borders to the panel, I adhered it to a top-folding Powder Pink card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To bring my card together, I added one of the other sentiments from the stamp set to a Whisper White panel for the inside of the card. I decided it looked a bit sparse since it was a fairly small sentiment, so I pulled in other of the other pig images from the This Little Piggy stamp set and added him down in the corner using Basic Black ink to have him kind of looking up at the sentiment. To keep him a bit more subtle, I stamped off once before stamping him on the panel.

That completes my card for today. I hope you’ve enjoyed my take on the This Little Piggy stamp set. If you are in the U.S. and would like to purchase any of the items I’ve used today, or any other Stampin’ Up product, please visit my online store for easy 24/7 shopping.
