It’s the 17th of the month which means it’s time for your friendly reminder to perform your monthly breast self-exam. This wonderful Calling All Sistahs reminder is brought to you each month by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. Not only is Michelle, the owner, part of our wonderful stamping community, but she is also a breast cancer survivor. We do this reminder on the 17th of each month because the 17th is the day she discovered her cancer while performing a self-exam. You can read more about her story here.
For my card, I decided to use one of the awesome scripty sentiments from her new Puffy Heart Love stamp set. I use the phrase “I love heart love …” quite often, so this sentiment immediately caught my eye!
I stamped the sentiment on a piece of water media paper from Ken Oliver Crafts using VersaMark ink then heat embossed it using clear embossing powder. I applied a generous amount of water over the embossed sentiment then did a wet-on-wet watercolor background using Daniel Smith watercolors. For the first and third layers, I used Wisteria. For the second layer, I used Rose Madder Permanent. I let each layer dry before adding the next.
While the watercolor panel was drying, I took a piece of white card stock from Catherine Pooler Designs and stamped one of the sentiments from the Calling All Sistahs stamp set using Jet Black ink from Lawn Fawn. I added a mat to the panel using some Black Licorice card stock, also from Lawn Fawn, then adhered it to the card base.
After the watercolor panel was dry, I took a very slightly damp paper towel and went over the embossed to remove any watercolor so it would be a nice crisp white again. Just as with the inside panel, I matted the watercolor panel on a piece of black card stock then adhered it to the front of the card.
