I can’t believe how quickly the three days of our big blog hop for the new Counting Blessings Stamp of Approval collection has gone by! Tomorrow is you LAST CHANCE to enter for an opportunity to win this fabulous collection! All blog hop entries close on THURSDAY, August 17 at 9AM ET and the winners will be announced later that day on Catherine’s blog. Be sure to visit all the stops for today’s hop and leave a comment for your chance to win. If you’ve missed any of the stops from days one or two, this is your last chance to go back and leave comments at any stops you may have missed. As with the previous two days, I’ll have a complete list of all today’s hop participants at the end of this post.
I’m not part of the “official” hop today, but I wanted to share another card with you anyway. This is another card that took me a bit out of my card making comfort zone, but I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! As you can see, I’ve definitely returned for a fall theme for this card.
For this card, I started by prepping a piece of cardstock with a thin coat of gesso. After the gesso was dry, I taped down the cardstock and then taped down the Marching Leaves Stencil from the collection over it. I applied some Iridescent Gelatos from Faber-Castell over the stencil and worked it into the openings with my finger. I started with Odyssey in the upper left corner, then moved into Supernova, and ended with Mars. I thought these colors were all very reminiscent of fall leaves.
I really wish you should see just how shimmery these leaves are, but photos simply don’t do them justice. This was my first time using the Iridescent Gelatos, but definitely won’t be my last. I LOVED them!! Applied this thickly, I will warn you they do take a while to dry. I let mine dry for over 24 hours before I moved on to actually making the card. If you don’t want to wait that long, you could apply a much thinner coat, but the colors won’t be as vibrant.
For the sentiment, I used the Thankful Die from the collection and cut the word out four times so I could stack them together for a bit of dimension. I cut it twice from white card stock and twice from Cherry Cobbler card stock from Stampin’ Up. I thought the Cherry Cobbler worked really well with the fall theme of this card. Once I had all the words cut out, I glued them together using some Multi Medium Matte then set it aside to dry.
I decided I wanted to tone down the area where I would be putting the sentiment just a bit so it wouldn’t be “fighting” the beautiful colors of the leaves. I took the Thankful die and a piece of vellum and loosely traced around the die with a pencil, adding about 1/4″ all around as I was tracing. I then fussy cut the shape out just inside the pencil line creating a vellum shadow for my word die. I adhered the word die to the vellum using more of the Multi Medium Matte.
To assemble the card, I adhered the stencil panel to a mat of Cherry Cobbler card stock using tape runner. I then adhered the matted panel to a white top-folding card base, also using tape runner. I added a bit more of the Multi Medium Matte to the back of the vellum behind the letters of the word die then adhered it to the card.
As promised, here’s a full list of all the Design Team and Guest Designers taking part in today’s hop. Be sure to visit them all and leave a comment for a chance to win the Counting Blessings collection!
