A new class kicked off today over at Online Card Classes. It’s called Merry Making and, as you may have guessed, it’s all about holiday cards. I absolutely love making holiday cards and I’m always on the lookout for new techniques to make my cards more interesting. I registered for this class within the first hour after it was announced. LOL
For my homework card for today’s class, I decided to try a technique demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire. She was actually demonstrating ways to add snow to cards, but I fell in love with the embossing technique she shared on one of her sample cards. I decided to give it a try and absolutely LOVE the result! Of course, since this is a paid class, I won’t be sharing the actual technique I used to achieve this result. If you want to learn that, you’ll need to sign up for the class. 🙂
Here’s another angle which really shows off all the shine on this card. I used the Ornament Background stamp set from the Stamp of Approval Winterhaven collection which will be launching tomorrow (Tuesday, October 10, 2017). The sentiment is from the Here We Come A-Caroling stamp set from the came collection. I did some partial die cutting using the label die from the Good Stuff Dies in the collection to create a smaller label which was the perfect size for this sentiment. To give it a little pop, I added some gold heat embossing around the edges of the label then adhered it to the card using some foam tape.
I absolutely love the vintage feel of this card. It reminds me of the beautiful foil wrapping papers that were very popular back in the 60s and 70s. I hope you’ve enjoyed this card. I’ll be posting more homework cards from this class over the next week or so. If you’re interested in more information about this class, you can find all the details here.
Until next time …
