Mel's Card Corner | Winterhaven Stamp of Approval Collection

As you know, the new Winterhaven Stamp of Approval collection launched earlier this week from Catherine Pooler Designs. We’re coming down to the final quantities of this collection, so if you want to purchase it, NOW is the time! As a reminder, the individual items in this collection won’t be available for purchase until much later in 2018.

Before it sells out completely, I thought I would share another inspiration card I created using products from this collection. Kristie and I had a laugh when the design team started sharing photos of the cards we made from the collection in preparation for the blog hop. We both made a very similar version of this card design. I guess it’s true what they say … great minds think alike. LOL If you want to take a peek at her version of this card, you can find it here.

I started by masking off a section at the bottom part of the card using some wide Post-It tape. I used a mini ink blending tool and inks from Catherine Pooler to create the night sky for my scene. I put just a touch of Party Girl at the bottom, then added Something Borrowed over the entire section. To give the sky a bit more depth, I added some Flirty Fuchsia at the top. Once I had achieved the look I wanted, I removed the masking tape.

All of the stamped images are from the Here We Come A-Caroling stamp set which is included in the Winterhaven collection. I stamped everything using Catherine’e Midnight ink. Since these are silhouette stamps, I used my Mini Misti to stamp everything so I could double stamp if need be to get a good crisp & solid silhouette image. I didn’t actually need to though because the Midnight ink gave me a great stamping on the first try!

After I had all the images and sentiment stamped, I used a white gel pen to add falling snow through my entire scene. Since I wanted this to look like snow instead of stars, I added white dots over my stamped images as well. For a little pop of color, I used a Dove blender pen and some Tiara ink to add some light into the lamp post and the area surrounding it. For the finishing touch, I added a bit of clear Sparkle pen to the light area of the lamp post.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. For more inspiration using the products from the Winterhaven collection, be sure to stop by and check out the DT’s Winterhaven Pinterest board.

Until next time …

Nice card Mel! I had to laugh too when I saw your card because when I had seen Kristie’s card I thought it needed that touch of glow around the light and that is what you have done. Great minds think a like. Waiting patiently for the arrive of my Winterhaven box.
