Elegant Snowflake

I’m still plugging away creating quick & easy holiday cards that carry a bit of wow factor. For today’s card, I pulled in the Winter Wonder embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!® The snowflake is large enough that it definitely works as the focal image of card.

Start by cutting a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8″. Place it in the embossing folder then run it through the Big Shot using the appropriate sandwich for regular embossing folders.

I decided to mat the focal panel with a Rose Gold layer. Cut a piece of card stock (any pale color will work) to 4 x 5-1/4″. Using a direct-to-paper inking technique, go around all four edges of the layer with a VersaMark ink pad. Since there is only a small amount showing, I only went about 1/4″ in from the edge. Apply the Rose Gold embossing powder from Lawn Fawn over the VersaMark and set with a heat tool.

For the sentiment, cut a strip of Very Vanilla cardstock to 3/8 x 2-1/4″. Stamp a small holiday sentiment in the middle of the strip using VersaMark then heat set it with the Rose Gold embossing powder. The sentiment I used is from the Tim Holtz exclusive STAMPtember stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. It’s no longer available for purchase, but any small sentiment will do. There is a very similar set in Tim’s regular line of stamps, but the scale is just a bit larger, so you might need to make the sentiment strip a bit larger to accommodate it. I’ll link to that set in my product list at the end of this post. Of course, you could also substitute and use a general winter-themed sentiment to send this card after the holidays, too.

Create a top-folding card base from Very Vanilla Thick cardstock. Adhere the embossed focal panel to the Rose Gold layer using a strong adhesive then adhere the combined layer to the card base. Use a pair of scissors to snip a fishtail banner on either end of the sentiment then adhere it over the middle of the snowflake using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and that completes the card.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
