It’s the 17th of the month, so that means it’s time again for your friendly monthly reminder to perform your breast self-exam. This post is kind of bittersweet because this will be my last month as part of the Calling All Sistahs Encouragement Squad DT for CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my term on the DT, but decided to step aside and let someone else have an opportunity to participate as part of the DT. I just wanted to send out a big THANKS to Michele, the owner of CFS, and to Heather, our wonderful DT coordinator. They rock!!
My card today has extra special meaning to me this month. Even though our reminder is for a breast cancer reminder, I used purple for my card which is the ribbon color for lymphoma. My father was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma earlier this fall. Amazingly, when he had a scan this week, his body has responded so well to the chemo that his oncologist said they no longer consider him terminal!! Woo Hoo!!! While he’s not cancer-free yet, at least he’s no longer terminal and that’s a pretty awesome Christmas gift to our family. As my card says, hope is definitely stronger than fear!
For this card, I stamped the Hope Ribbon image and the sentiment on a white panel using Rich Razzleberry ink from Stampin’ Up!® I used the coordinating Ruffled Ribbon Fri-Die to cut the ribbon out from the panel. I adhered the panel to a layer of Rich Razzleberry card stock then popped the die cut back in place using some foam adhesive which allows the purple layer underneath to peek through and highlight the die cut.
I adhered the the matted focal panel to a top-folding white card base. I used a red marker to color in the center heart on the ribbon then added a coat of clear Sparkle pen and that completed the card.
If you’re interested in any of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps products I used on my card today, they are available in their online store. Use my design team code from the image above to save 15% of stamps and dies in the store. As a reminder, 50% of the profiles from the Calling All Sistahs product line goes to breast cancer research.
That pretty much wraps up my post for today. Head over to the Calling All Sistahs blog to see all of the other amazing cards from the Encouragement Squad design team this month. Be sure to stop back tomorrow for our December edition of the encouragement card challenge. I’ve already had a peek at the cards and I think you’ll really enjoy them!
Until next time …
