I’m a big fan of brush lettering which is also known as modern calligraphy. I’ve been working on my lettering skills for the past several months using workbooks from Becca at The Happy Ever Crafter. Even though I’m getting better, I still have a long way to go before I would be comfortable attempting to letter on one of my cards. Thankfully, Stampin’ Up!® has a new stamp set called Amazing Congratulations that gives me that look with just a bit of simple stamping!
Start by stamping the outline image using Pool Party. Next, stamp the first part of the congratulations word inside the outline using Bermuda Bay ink then stamp the second part using Tranquil Tide ink. After giving the ink a minute to dry, fussy cut around the outline using Paper Snips. If desired, use a craft knife to cut out the middle of the letters. I opted to only cut out the middle of the G since the other letter centers were much smaller.
To create the focal layer, cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 3-1/2 x 4-3/4″. Repeat stamp one of the coordinating sentiments in the stamp set along the left edge of the panel using Pool Party ink.
To add some texture to the remaining white space on the panel, use one of the small cluster stamps from the stamp set to repeat stamp the rest of the panel. To keep the look very subtle, stamp off once before stamping on the panel.
For the mat layer, cut a piece of Tranquil Tide card stock to 4 x 5-1/4″. Dry emboss the layer using the Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Adhere it, debossed side up, to a card base created from Whisper White Thick card stock. (Since the Tranquil Tide piece is embossed, I recommend using Fast Fuse adhesive to ensure a good hold.) Adhere the Whisper White panel to the Tranquil Tide panel then adhere the Congratulations word using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I decided to add a bit of shimmer to my card. Once I had everything assembled, I traced over the Congratulations word using a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen. If you wanted to keep this as a more masculine card, simply omit the Wink of Stella.
