Zen Garden Blog Hop – Day 3

Mel's Card Corner | Zen Garden Blog Hop - Day 2

Welcome to day three of the big four day Creative Team blog hop featuring new products from the Zen Garden release from Catherine Pooler Designs. These new products were debuted last month at the Creativation (formerly known as CHA) trade show, but are now available for purchase. You should have arrived here from Tracie’s blog, but if not, don’t worry. I’ll have a list of the full blog hop at the bottom of my post.

For my cards today, I’m going to feature a couple of different products. I’ll be using the Eat Sleep Create stamp set and the AMAZING Doodle Garden background stamp. These two stamp sets may be my favorites from this release, although the entire realize is pretty awesome.

Mel's Card Corner | Zen Garden Blog Hop - Day 3

For my first card, I used the paint splatter image from Eat Sleep Create to create this fun rainbow border using most of the new ink colors from this release. The only one I didn’t use is Spruce. In order from top to bottom, I used Rose Petals, Polished, Shea Butter, Seafoam, Stone Blue, Skylight, and Sugared Lavender.

I used a few of the mix and match sentiment from the same stamp set to create my sentiment. I stamped Create in Stone Blue, Your Own in Seafoam, and Sunshine in Shea Butter. I then added the small dotted border on either side of the sentiment using Midnight ink. I matted the panel using the Midnight cardstock then adhered it to a top-folding card base. For a bit of shimmer, I added some Clear Overlay Sparkle pen from Crafter’s Companion on each paint splatter.

For my second card, I created a panel using the incredible Doodle Background stamp and Midnight ink. I used the same paint splatter image from Eat Sleep Create and all eight of the new inks to “color” my background panel to give it a bit of a graffiti look.

I used two of the sentiments from the Eat Sleep Create stamp set to create the sentiment. I stamped them on black cardstock using Versamark ink then heat embossed them in white. Once the embossing cooled, I cut out the sentiment using the smallest stitched rectangle using the Postage Stamp dies from the Love is in the Air Stamp of Approval collection.

To mat the sentiment, I used the Polished ink pad and did a direct to paper inking technique to create some Polished cardstock. Once the ink was dry, I die cut it using the coordinating postage stamp die to match the stitched rectangle I used for my sentiment panel.

To assemble the card, I adhered the sentiment and background panels to their coordinating layers. I added the background panel to a top-folding card base then adhered the sentiment using foam squares. For a finishing embellishment, I added a three drops of Honey Gold Nuvo Glitter Drops next to the sentiment.

Mel's Card Corner | Zen Garden Blog Hop - Day 2

As always with our blog hops, you’ll want to be sure and visit all the stops and leave a comment on each. Catherine’s is generously giving TWO lucky winners a set of all eight of the new Zen Garden Inks each blog hop day. Winners will be announced on Catherine’s blog on Monday, February 19. If any of the winners have already purchased the new inks, they will receive a $45 gift certificate instead to use on a future purchase from Catherine’s store.

As promised earlier, here’s the full list of the day three hop:

Until next time …
