Catherine Pooler Designs Meets Lawn Fawn

Today’s card was inspired by the new Color Throwdown challenge. The color theme for this challenge is peach, black, and white. I thought this would be a great opportunity to use the new Black Tie Gala patterned paper from the recent All That Jazz release from Catherine Pooler Designs. Since I still had the Simply Celebrate and Simply Sentiments stamp sets from Lawn Fawn sitting on my desk from the card I created for yesterday’s post, I decided to use them again for today’s card.

I started by stamping the row of balloons from Simply Celebrate on white card stock using Jet Black ink then set it aside to dry for a few minutes. As it was drying I used the largest rectangle from the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched 4 Bar Rectangles die set to cut a rectangle from white card stock. I used the Jet Black ink again to stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from Simply Sentiments on the lower third of the rectangle.

I used Copic markers to color the balloons. Since the color challenge called for peach, I used YR20, YR61, and YR02 to color in all of the balloons. I think these three markers combine to make a perfect peach color. Thank you for the combination, Jennifer Dove! 🙂

After the coloring was done, I cut out the balloons using the coordinating Simply Celebrate dies. To give the appearance of a reflection on the balloons, I used a white gel pen to add a little highlight in the upper right quadrant of each balloon.

To assemble the card, I created a card base from white card stock. To that, I adhered a piece of the Black Tie Gala patterned paper to cover the entire front panel of the card. I adhered the stitched rectangle centered on the card using thin foam adhesive. Finally, I adhered the die cut balloons immediately above the sentiment, again using the thin foam adhesive. I decided to use the thin foam adhesive since I was planning to pop up two layers. This will help keep the card thin enough it shouldn’t require additional postage even with the added dimension.

I’m entering the card in the following challenges:

Until next time …
