I Scream, You Scream

We all scream for ice cream! For today’s card, I decided to pull out one of my favorite sets (Cool Treats) from last year’s Stampin’ Up!® catalog. Fortunately, the stamp set and coordinating dies weren’t retired, so they’re still available.

Mel's Card Corner | I Scream, You Scream

I started by creating a card base from Whisper White Thick cardstock. Using Stampin’ Write markers in Lemon Lime Twist, Crumb Cake, and Peekaboo Peach, I flicked some ink spots all over the front of the card. Next, I cut a couple of strips of DSP from the Tutti Frutti 6×6″ paper pack and adhered them along the left edge of the card base.

For the focal image, I stamped the two-step ice cream swirl using Peekaboo Peach ink. I stamped off once for the base layer, then stamped full strength for the swirl layer. The only other stamping on this card was the sentiment. I stamped it on a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using VersaMark ink then heat embossed it using white embossing powder. Once the embossing cooled, I cut out the sentiment using the Classic Label Punch lining the sentiment up on the right-hand side.

The rest of the card was created using die cuts. I used the coordinating swirl die from the Frozen Treats Framelits to cut out the ice cream. I used two of the cone dies to cut out the base of the cone and the crosshatch pattern which I glued on top of the base. While I was die cutting, I also cut out a white circle using the largest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and a Lemon Lime Twist scalloped circle using the largest scallop circle from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies.

To assemble the focal panel, I used a Stampin’ Sponge to sponge some Crumb Cake ink on the edges of the cone. I then added some glue along the top of the cone and adhered the ice cream swirl to it. I adhered the stitched circle to the scalloped circle then adhered the matted piece to the card base allowing the right edge to run off the edge of the card. I used my Paper Snips to trim away the excess. I adhered the sentiment strip to the layered circles then added the ice cream cone over the top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a final bit of shimmer, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella over the ice cream swirl.

I’m entering the card in the following challenges:

Before I go, I just wanted to take a moment to thank a couple of challenge design teams. Cards I designed were selected as challenge winners recently.

The Player Players - Headliner  Mel's Card Corner | CAS Rainbow Stars
The first honor was being selected a winner at the Paper Players challenge. It was for their Clean & Simple Rainbow challenge.

Mel's Card Corner | CPD Meets Lawn Fawn
The second honor was being selected Featured Stamper at the Color Throwdown. It was for their peach, black, and white color challenge #485.

Until next time …
