Today is launch day for the new Wild & Wonderful release from Catherine Pooler Designs. The Creative Team is kicking off a big three day blog hop today as well. Even though I won’t be “officially” hopping until day three of the hop, I wanted to share a card today to celebrate the launch of the new release.
This card actually features both of the amazing new background stamps in this release. I used the BFF Background Stamp and Grape Crush ink on the bottom quarter of the card front. I also used the Grape Crush ink to stamp the sentiment from the Wonderful Wildflowers stamp set.
I originally planned to do a monochromatic card, but I got started, I decided I really wanted a pop of color. Using some white cardstock and a mini ink blending tool, I created a rainbow blend using the four ink colors in this release. Two of the colors, All That Jazz and Be Mine, were previously released as mystery colors in Stamp of Approval collections, but are now available for individual purchase. The two other colors, Grape Crush and Limoncello, are completely new colors. These four colors are the start of the new Carnivale Bundle from the Party Collection of inks.
Once I had the rainbow blend completed, I used my heat tool to ensure the ink was completely dry. I went over the entire piece using my anti-static powder tool then stamped the new Kaleidoscope Background Stamp over the rainbow using VersaMark ink then heat set it using clear embossing powder. I trimmed a piece of the rainbow cardstock to about 5/8″ wide and adhered it to the card front just below the sentiment and that completed the card.
If you would prefer something a bit quicker that doesn’t involve ink blending and heat embossing, here’s another variation I made of the same card. Instead of the ink blended rainbow piece, I added some sparkly washi tape instead. I still used Grape Crush ink to stamp the BFF Background Stamp, but this time switched things up and used Be Mine for the sentiment.
Be sure to head over to Catherine’s blog now. She’s the starting point for today’s hop. You’ll definitely want to hop along and leave comments at all the stops for a chance to win.
Until next time …
