Mel's Card Corner | All the Trimmings Blog Hop

Welcome to our big blog hop for the new All the Trimmings release from Catherine Pooler Designs. The hop is full of loads of inspiration for some of the Creative Team members as well as some Guest Designers. You should have arrived here from Lisa’s blog, but if you didn’t, don’t worry. I’ll have a list of all the stops in the hop at the bottom of this post.

For my first card, I used the adorable elf from the Santa Approved stamp set. I colored him with Copic markers then die cut him out using the coordinating dies. I adhered him to a white cardstock panel using dimensional adhesive then added a bit of ground beneath him, again using Copic markers. For the sentiment, I stamped the Happy Holidays from the same stamp set using Samba ink.

For the colored cardstock accents, I created my own colored cardstock using the direct-to-paper inking technique. I used the new Samba and Mardi Gras inks for this step. I also created a fun striped border using the postmark stamp from Santa Approved using all three of the new inks — Samba, Mardi Gras, and Suede Shoes. I then adhered all the layers together then added them to a top-folding card base and that completed the card.

For my second card, I used the Peace Love and Doves background stamp. I stamped it on the front of a top-folding card base using VersaMark ink then heat embossed it in gold.

For the sentiment, I stamped images from the Here We Come A Caroling stamp set from last year’s Winterhaven Stamp of Approval Collection. I stamped the word holidays in Samba ink and the Happy in Mardi Gras ink. I die cut it using the smallest label from the new Nested Labels Dies. For a pop of color behind the sentiment, I used the Samba ink and the direct-to-paper inking technique to create some colored cardstock which I die cut with the next largest Nested Labels die. I adhered the labels together using some thin foam squares then adhered it to the card base using more thin foam squares and that completed the card.
