I love the look of eclipse cards, but don’t really make them very often. I’m not sure why because I always love the end result when I do. Today’s card is no exception. I absolutely love how this card came together when it was finished. Since today is also Harvey Milk Day, it seemed only fitting to share a rainbow card on my blog in his memory.
I masked off a strip near the bottom of the card front size panel of white cardstock. I used inks from Catherine Pooler Designs to create the ink blended rainbow. I used her Awesome Die for the eclipse word. To make the effect more dramatic, I die cut the word three additional times from white cardstock then stacked them all together
After I finished the die cutting, I stamped the “you are” sentiment stamps from the Autumn Blessings stamp set centered over the “awesome” using black ink. I adhered the eclipse layer to a card base created from white cardstock then adhered the stacked awesome die cut in place to create the eclipse effect. To finish off the card, I wrapped some black & white twine around the top of the card to help balance everything.
I’m entering this card in the following challenge(s):
- AAA Cards – the current theme is Up to One Third (optional twist of bright colors).
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – the current theme is a bright colors mood board.
- HLS CAS Challenge – the current theme is sentiment only.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …
