3D Floral Focus – Day 1

A new class kicked off today over at Altenew Academy. The class is called 3D Floral Focus and is being taught by the very talented Therese Calvird. I’m not sure if I’ll have time to keep up with the class every day because I’m also working on completing my final challenge for Level 1 of the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP). If I happen to fall behind during the live class though, I’ll just catch up once I’ve completed my AECP final.

Mel's Card Corner | 3D Floral Focus - Day 1

For today’s card, I started by creating the 3D floral elements using the Wild Rose 3D Die Set from Altenew. I used a variety of colored cardstock from my stash to create the flowers and leaves. By following the layering guide included with the die set, it was really easy to line up all of the layers.

After the flowers and leaves were assembled, I focused on making the background. I created a top-folding card from white cardstock then did some ink blending on the card front using one of the Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studios. I used the Beveled Squares Stencil and Altenew inks in Arctic, Caribbean Sky, and Persian Blue.

Once the background was finished, I adhered the leaves directly to the card front using liquid glue. I then adhered the flowers over the leaves using some foam squares for a bit of added dimension. To complete the card, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Heartfelt Sentiments stamp set near the top of the card using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and my Mini MISTI so I could double stamp the sentiment for a nice crisp black result.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …

Your card is absolutely beautiful Melissa! You sound very busy (in a fun way lol) but I agree that’s the great thing about these classes is that they are there to access forever! I am so happy to hear that you are having fun.

Thank you so much, Therese! I agree it’s wonderful the classes include lifetime access. I also love the very affordable price point on them, especially when one takes advantage of the early bird pricing. 🙂
