I’m back with my homework card for day two of the 3D Floral Focus class at Altenew Academy. The class is being taught Therese Calvird and has really been great thus far. I’m new to using 3D layering dies, so I was really excited to see Altenew offer this class.
For this card, I used the Fantasy Floral 3D Die Set from Altenew. I went through my cardstock stash and found two shades from the same color family. I used a light aqua color for bottom and top layers of the flower and some leave, then used a darker aqua color for the middle layer of the flower and more leaves. I really love the monochromatic look this creates.
I started by die cutting all the layers using my Platinum 6 die cutting machine. I then added small dots of liquid glue on the back of each layer to adhere them together following the layering guide on the packaging. If you wanted to make this even easier, you could apply some double-sided adhesive sheet to the cardstock prior to die cutting.
To give the card a bit of texture, I used some Spicy Yogurt cardstock from Altenew for the background. Using my Mini MISTI stamp positioning tool, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Fancy Greetings Stamp Set using Cloudy Night ink. I then double stamped the sentiment again using VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder.
To assemble the card, I created a top-folding card from ivory cardstock. I matted the focal layer with two additional layers of the same cardstocks I used for the die cutting. I adhered the leaves to the card front using some liquid glue then adhered the layered flower die cut over the leaves using some thin foam squares and that completed my card.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …
