3D Floral Focus – Day 3

I’m back with another homework card for the 3D Floral Focus class. This class is taking place this week over at Altenew Academy. It’s being taught by Therese Calvird of Lost In Paper. The day 3 lesson was all about using the inlay die cutting technique with 3D dies.

I will admit, I found this lesson rather challenging. I’ve done inlay die cutting many times, but it takes on a whole new layer (pardon the pun) of difficulty when you are doing it with 3D dies. I finally worked out that simpler is better in this case, so I reduced the number of layers I was using to make it a bit easier while still getting the fun inlaid appearance. I love how using the inlay die cutting technique also keeps this a one layer card.

I used the Wild Roses 3D Dies and random colored cardstock from my stash to create the inlaid focal image. Once I had that done, I added a sentiment from the Heartfelt Sentiments stamp set which was stamped using Jet Black ink. The dies, stamp, and ink are all from Altenew.

I’m entering this card in the following challenge(s):

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …

Such a striking card and a fabulous use of inlaid dies – never tried using more than one die for this technique, maybe I should! Thanks for playing at AAA Cards, hope to see you join in with future challenges too.

What a brilliant idea to reduce the number of layers – I really struggled with this……now I can try again using your idea. Fabulous. 🙂

This inlaid die cutting technique is so tricky! It hurt my brain! I love that you made it simpler. It certainly adds another layer of awesomeness when you use a 3D die!
