3D Floral Focus – Day 4

Today’s card is my homework card for day 4 of the 3D Floral Focus class at Altenew Academy. The lesson for day 4 was about using 3D dies in ways other than how they were originally intended. Therese really had us thinking outside the box on this one!

Mel's Card Corner | 3D Floral Focus - Day 4

For this card, I started by die cutting three of the largest flower layer from the Wild Rose 3D Dies as well as a single die cut of the flower centers. I also cut some leaves using the Fantasy Floral 3D Die Set.

Once I had all the die cutting done, I adhered the three layers of the flower together then adhered the center die cuts on the flower. I then set the flower aside to focus on my background.

I started by creating a top-folding card base using white cardstock. Using some masking paper, I masked a circle off in the center top third of the card front. I placed the Watercolor Stripes Stencil over the card front and blended on some ink using a Life Changing Blender Brush and Dew Drops ink. Once I had all the color down, I removed the stencil and circle mask to reveal the lovely striped background on the front of the card.

To assemble the card, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Fancy Greetings stamp set inside the circle near the top using Espresso ink. I adhered the leaf die cuts and flower to the corner front near the lower left portion of the masked circle. For a final bit of embellishment, I used a brown fine tip marker to add some faux stitching inside the circle.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …

Ahhhhh….two die sets that I don’t own yet! Lol. This is so cute layered up like that. Now, to restrain myself from visiting Scrapbook.com for the fourth time this week! Ha, ha.
