I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you all today. I was selected as one of the two new Design Team (DT) members at the AAA Cards challenge blog. I’ve been participating on and off with their challenges for a couple of years, so I’m honored to now be part of their DT. You can head over to today’s post at the AAA Cards blog to also see who will be joining me as the other new DT member.
Our newest challenge, sponsored by Ink Road Stamps, is kicking off today. This is my first challenge as an “official” member of the DT, so I hope you’ll pop over and play along. We also have the fabulous Shona Chambers joining us as a Guest Designer for this challenge. The theme for CAS Game #144 is Maxi White Space with the optional twist of Christmas in July. As always, we ask that you please keep things clean and simple (CAS).
For this card, I started by stamping one of the ornaments from the Ornate Ornaments stamp set from Simon Says Stamp on a piece of white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the Memento ink because it’s a great Copic-friendly ink.
After letting the ink dry for a bit, I colored the image using the following Copic markers then cut it out using the coordinating die.
- Greens: G02, G05, G17
- Reds: R24, R27, R39
To assemble the card, I started by creating a top-folding card base using white card stock. I decided where I wanted the ornament to be place, then used one of the straight edges from my MISTI Creative Corners and Copic Multiliner pen to draw a “string” hanging down from the top of the card. I stamped one of the holiday sentiments from the Tiny Words Christmas stamp set from Simon Says Stamp about halfway down the card, also using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then adhered the ornament to the card using some thin foam squares to give just a little dimension.
Since this is a CAS card, I kept the embellishments to a minimum. I covered the entire ornament with a layer of clear Wink of Stella glitter pen for a little shimmer. Finally, I added tiny drops of Glossy Accents over each of the dots on the ornament and that completed the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun CAS project. Please be sure to head over to AAA Cards to play along with our current challenge. As always, please remember to keep your card CAS which, for us, means plenty of white space free of images, texture, pattern, etc. with minimal layers and embellishments.
