I recently joined the Design Team (DT) for the AAA Cards Clean and Simple Challenges. Did you know there is also a really fun Facebook group for our challenge blog, too? Each month there is a card lottery, a card exchange, and a bonus Weekend Workout challenge the last weekend of the month.
The theme for this month’s card lottery was add a stripe. I thought I would share the card I created for the lottery here on my blog today. This card was inspired by this beautiful card created by my sweet friend, Erika Post. All of the inks and stamps used on this card are from Catherine Pooler Designs.
I started by cutting a layer of white cardstock slightly smaller than a card front size. Using my MISTI stamp positioning tool, I started by stamping the hello sentiment from the Scatter Sunshine stamp set. I stamped the lower half using Samba ink and the upper half using Coral Cabana ink. I love the highlight this left horizontally across the sentiment!
Next, I used the various ray images from the Scatter Sunshine stamp set to create a bright fun sun ray effect coming off the sentiment. For this process, I used Catherine’s inks in Limoncello, Tiara, and Tiki Torch.
To give the card a bit more visual interest, I decided to incorporate some score lines on the opposite corner and edges from the focal point. I scored the panel at 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2″ on each of the two sides.
To assemble the card, I used an A2 Vertical card base from Scrapbook.com. I burnished the score line then adhered the focal pan to the card front using foam tape and that completed this colorful clean and simple card.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …
