You’re the Bee’s Knees

For today’s card, I’m once again using some images I colored during the recently ended 30 Day Coloring Challenge. The images are from the Bee Yourself stamp set which was included in the July 2019 Card Kit of the Month from Simon Says Stamp. The kit is sold out, but the stamp set is still available individually.

Since my bee and honeycomb images were already colored, I really only needed to create the background for this card. I started by taking a top-folding card base and masking off the back half of the card. Using a Life Changing Blender Brush from Picket Fence Studios and Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Broken China from Ranger, I blended a sky background. I left some areas a bit lighter than others to give the illusion of light fluffy clouds in the distance.

Since there aren’t any coordinating dies available the stamp set, I had to fussy cut everything. After I had everything cut out, I decided where I wanted the bee and honeycomb images to go on the card then planned my stamping around that. I stamped one of the flight trials and sentiments from the same stamp set on the card using the Premium Black Hybrid Ink from Scrapbook.com.

Now it was time to assemble! I adhered the two pieces of honeycomb directly to the card using liquid glue then added the bee using some foam squares. For a tiny bit of embellishment, I added some clear Wink of Stella to the bee’s wings and that completed the card.

If you’re interested in how I colored the bee and honeycombs, here are the Copic colors I used:

  • Bee Body (Yellow) and Honeycombs: Y11, Y15, Y17
  • Bee Body (Black): C4, C6, C8
  • Bee Wings: BV0000, BV00, BV02

I’m entering this card in the following challenge(s):

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …
