It’s time for another new challenge over at the AAA Cards Challenge Blog. The theme for our new challenge is Made in Minutes with the optional twist of Summer. Our guest designer for this challenge is the very talented Bobby from Bits & Pieces. This challenge is also be sponsored by STAMPlorations who have generously offered up a $15 gift certificate for the winner, so you’ll definitely want to head over to AAA Cards and play along with this challenge!
Now, on to my DT card for this challenge.
Since STAMPlorations is sponsoring this challenge, I decided to use one of their stencils for my card. Using stencils is a great way to create very quick clean and simple cards, so it worked perfectly with our Made in Minutes theme. I used their Bold Florals stencil which also worked perfectly with the optional Summer twist. I also decided to use the theme from one of our recent challenges again which was One Corner with the optional twist of Flowers.
For the flower, I applied Distress Oxide inks through the stencil using a fingertip sponge dauber on a piece of white cardstock. The darker color is Abandoned Coral and the lighter color is Squeezed Lemonade. As you can see, once a bit of the Abandoned Coral mixed with the Squeezed Lemonade, it turned the yellow is to a lovely soft orange color. The color actually reminds me of one of my favorite summer fruits — mango!
For the leaves, I also applied the Distress Oxide inks with a sponge dauber. The darker shade is Peacock Feathers and the lighter shade is Twisted Citron. Again, once the shades were blended a bit, the Peacock Feathers took on an entirely different look. I love how these colors look together!
To complete the card, I trimmed the panel down and added a sentiment from the I Scream You Scream stamp set by Catherine Pooler Designs. I stamped it using Black Premium Hybrid Ink from Scrapbook.com. Once I had the sentiment stamped, I adhered the panel to a top-folding heavyweight white card base using foam tape and that completed the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun CAS project. Please be sure to head over to AAA Cards to play along with our current challenge. As always, please remember to keep your card CAS which, for us, means plenty of white space free of images, texture, pattern, etc. with minimal layers and embellishments.
